My father was transferred to Kindred Hospital-Hollywood from the VA hospital in Temple, Texas. The doctors told me that my father was going to be ventilator dependent and was going to have a trach for the rest of his life. I did not want to accept that so I researched and brought him to Kindred because I found out that they were very aggressive when it comes to treating patients on ventilators. After being here for about a month and a half, thanks to the respiratory therapist team which was led by Mr. Frank Gomez, my father was taken off the ventilator and no longer has a trach and as of a week ago, he has been placed on room air with no oxygen. He is on his way to have at least a better quality of life than he had before. I have to thank also the pulmonary team headed by Dr.Ferrer, Dr. Monica, and Dr. Nieves, and also his primary care physician, Dr. English. I cannot thank the nursing staff of the hospital enough for everything that they have done for my father and for my family. I’m grateful to have my father back and on his way to the next level of care with rehab and a lot of occupational therapists and ultimately going back to Texas. Thank you God and thank you Kindred. God bless you all sincerely.
